Some Web Hosting Alternatives
Free web hosting - Just as the name implies, this is a free service. With a free service website owners get a very limited amount of space on a web server and can create their own web pages. Usually the space is limited to one or two pages, and does not include other services such as databases, email or ftp. The pages almost always carry advertising for services provided by the web host.
Effective web hosting - Only purchase services you need, with the flexibility to expand as you require.
Shared web hosting service - Many web sites are located on the same server, usually with the same ip address. Each site has its own “virtual address”. The total number on a particular server will range from a few hundred to many thousands. Usually all domains share the same group of server resources, such as RAM, CPU and storage space.
Reseller web hosting - This method lets clients of web hosting companies become web hosting companies themselves. Most plans work this way: a client purchases a block of space, commonly associated with a specific ip address, and is then able to set up many domains in this space. These domain spaces can simply be used for the reseller’s own domains, or sold to other clients. Reseller accounts come with the capability to set up packages, set pricing, and collect payments automatically. Reseller accounts vary in size and features from very inexpensive shared space to full blown dedicated or colocated servers.
There are more expensive web hosting plans available for more intensive operations which include Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS or VPS for “Virtual Private Servers), Dedicated servers and Colocation Hosting.
